Chinese for Kids โ offline Mandarin stories for ages 6โ10.
Have a question, found a bug, or want to suggest a story? We'd love to hear from you and usually reply within a couple of days.
Longlong is made by an independent developer. There are no ads, no accounts, and no tracking. The app has one optional in-app purchase, described below.
The first two picture books โ Longlong's Lantern Adventure and Panda's Bamboo Breakfast, ten illustrated pages in all โ are free forever, with no time limit and no sign-up. One optional purchase of US$1.00 opens the remaining 24 books and all four practice games. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and there is nothing else to buy.
How do I buy the full library?Tap any locked story, then "Ask a grown-up to unlock." A parental gate asks a multiplication question written out in words, so a young child cannot get past it alone. After you answer it, the price and the purchase button appear.
I already bought it. How do I get it on another device?Sign in to the same Apple Account, open the app, reach the purchase screen through the parental gate, and tap Restore purchase.
My child bought something by accident.Purchases sit behind a parental gate specifically to prevent this. If it still happened, you can request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. You can also turn off in-app purchases entirely in iOS Settings โ Screen Time โ Content & Privacy Restrictions.
The microphone or speech practice isn't working.Speaking practice needs microphone and speech-recognition permission, which iOS asks for the first time your child taps the speak button. Both are optional: every speaking page has a "Practice by listening" button, so any story can be finished without granting either one.
There's no sound.Check that your device isn't muted and the volume is up. Every story page also has a green speaker button that replays the Mandarin sentence.
Does it work offline?Yes. All 26 books, their illustrations, the Mandarin narration, and all 110 vocabulary words are built into the app. It works on a plane with no connection. Only the one-time purchase itself needs the internet, and only at the moment you buy or restore it.
How do I see my child's progress, or start over?Tap the people icon in the top-right corner of the Adventure tab and answer the grown-up question. The parent area shows words explored, words mastered, minutes today, and story progress, and it has a "Reset learning progress" button.
Is it safe for children?Yes. No ads, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no data collection at all. Purchases are behind a parental gate. See the privacy policy below.

Longlong ("the App") is an educational Mandarin app for children. We take children's privacy seriously. This policy explains, in plain language, what the App does with data.
The App does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking of any kind. The App does not send any data off your device.
Stars, treasures, completed pages, vocabulary mastery, and settings are saved only in the App's own storage on your device. Nothing is uploaded. Deleting the App deletes all of it.
The App has an optional speaking practice, so a child can say a Mandarin phrase and get encouragement. Only when your child taps the speak button and you grant microphone and speech-recognition permission does the App listen and turn speech into text using Apple's built-in Speech Recognition. On devices that support it, this runs on your device; on some older devices Apple may transcribe the audio on Apple's servers, under Apple's own privacy policy. In all cases, the App itself never records, stores, or shares the audio. Every speaking activity can be completed without ever granting these permissions.
The App reads Mandarin sentences aloud using bundled audio and your device's built-in text-to-speech. The handwriting practice uses your finger or Apple Pencil and stays on the device. No audio and no drawings are recorded or sent anywhere.
The App offers one optional, one-time purchase that unlocks the full library. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see, receive, or store your name, payment details, or Apple Account. The App only asks Apple whether this device is entitled to the unlock. Purchases are placed behind a parental gate that a young child is not expected to pass.
The optional daily reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device. It is off by default, a grown-up turns it on in the parent area, and nothing is sent to any server.
All of the App's content is bundled inside the App and works offline. The App makes no network requests of its own. The only network traffic is Apple's own App Store communication when you buy or restore the unlock.
The App is designed for children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Because nothing is collected, there is nothing to disclose, export, or delete on request. This is intended to satisfy COPPA and GDPR-K by collecting no data at all.
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date.
